Meeting a celebrity, guess who?

Got a text message from someone at 10.39 am this morning asking whether I still want to have the book 'Travelog Haji' by Muhd Kamil Ibrahim. I only noticed the text at 1.30 pm before taking my shower and quickly replied, yes indeed I still want the book and gave her my address. Alhamdulillah she was already in Birm and promised to drop by after spending a day out with her fantastic four at Tink Tank Millenium.

At 4.30 pm, my door bell rang, there she stood with her 4 beautiful kids. Alhamdulillah, this is the moment I have been waiting for, to meet the author of pause to reflect in person, Miss or Mrs D. She is such a lovely person, warm, beautiful and cheerful. Thank you Khalil and Ida for getting my mobile no from my brother in Egham and passed it to D.

D stayed till almost 7 pm, I hurriedly cooked laksa johor and prepared some rice as well. By the time they arrived, everything was ready on the dining table.

D and me, can't help but recalling the moment when I first bump into her blog in Sept 2007 before we flew to Britain, when her Mr D was terminally ill. Everytime I read her blog, tears will be dwelling in my eyes. Alhamdulillah, glad to see that she is well composed now and in the acceptance phase.

Pau kacang

Madeehah, as usual, always eager to help sampai naik dok atas meja.................

Anas has been requesting to eat pau, so kenalah start menguli, though I have just bought the kenwood chef master mix, it is so heavy to carry from the top of the fridge to my workstation which is the dining table, end up, exercising the small muscles of my fingers and wrist, a handmade dough was made, the balance of the dough(after running out of red bean fillings), managed to turn it into a mini pizza with sausage topping.

Snow blast

Starting from Monday Britain had a snow blast which lasted 5 days already. Roads were icy and treacherous. The kids were off school on Wednesday as a result I had to take leave and work from home. Somehow working from home turned out to be baking, cooking, washing and cleaning which left me with a backache by night time. Anyway the kids loved the cotton cheese cake I baked them yesterday morning. Aiman said to Amir, 'I don't think mum baked this because it's so yummy, she must have bought it!'. What a downgrading statement! You think yr mum can't bake aah??? Anyway here is the recipe in case you want yr wife to make this cheese cake for you in future Aiman..ha..ha...

Japanese cotton cheese cake

250 g Philadelphia cream cheese (ASDA sale £1/ box of 250g), borong banyak2 masa sale..
1 cup of milk
1 cup of sugar
4 tbs butter
4 eggs (separate the egg white)
1 tbs lemon juice
1 tbs cornflour
4 tbs self raising flour
1 tsp cream of tartar(tak taruk sebab tak dak)

Methods:

1. Melt in a double boiler the cream cheese, butter, lemon juice and milk. Let it cool.
2. Add cornflour and SR flour in the cheesy mix.
3. Whisk egg whites till it forms a soft peak/ stiff (tonggeng tak tumpah), add sugar bit by bit, then add to the above mixture.
4. Bake for 1 hour at 160 C in a waterbath (au bain marie).

Easy peasy..ni Aiman pun boleh buat, come on Reena try la..can post some to Birm.He..he..
